Three Consequences of Facing the Sun Directly

Hadith of the Day is a daily feature highlighting timeless sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Ahlul-Bayt (pbut), offering insights into faith, ethics, and spirituality for contemporary life.

Hawzah News Agency- Muhammad ibn al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from Abd Allah ibn Ja’far al-Himyari who narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, from Abu Yahya Suhayl ibn Ziyad al-Wasiti, by his chain of narrators tracing it back to Imam Ali (pbuh) that he said:

لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الشَّمْسَ فَإِنَّهَا مَبْخَرَهٌ تُشْحِبُ اللَّوْنَ وَ تُبْلِی الثَّوْبَ وَ تُظْهِرُ الدَّاءَ الدَّفِینَ.

Do not face the sun [directly], for it is an incense burner that dulls the complexion, wears out clothes, and brings out hidden diseases.
